A day of Museums!!

Last Sunday (Feb. 9th) was Super Museum Sunday. This is when all the museums are open for FREE!! We headed out early along with our neighbors to visit two museums. Our first stop was Fort Pulaski http://www.nps.gov/fopu/. The weather was perfect!
Heading into the fort.

Knock knock....anyone home?? (There was no answer.)

They thought it was really cool we were INSIDE the hills in this part!

Back out on the other side.

Papa going back down through the "hill"

Crossing the drawbridge going into the fort.

Really neat brick work!

Mama and Ian.

Kristen was reading this sign about how the drawbridge was let down and pulled closed to the younger boys.
Heading up the steps to the upper level.

I love this picture.....

A lighthouse in the distance.

Randy and Gavin, one of the neighbor boys.

Our next stop was at the Mighty 8th Airforce Museum http://www.mightyeighth.org/about_us/index.htm.
Randy and Aaron outside by one of the planes before going in.

They had face painting and Mighty 8th tattoos for the kids inside.

This is one of the murals on one of the walls. They are really neat!! I was trying hard to get a picture without any people but as you can see, just as I snapped it, a boy walked up.....

Various planes hanging from the ceiling.

Momo standing in front of another painted display wall.
Back outside as we were leaving. Ian didn't want to be in the picture. I think he had had enough for the day by this point.

It was a fun day out!!
