Birthday at the BEACH!

We celebrated Papa's (Randy's) birthday at the beach yesterday! It was a great day and even the little rain that came along while we were there was fun!! Of course there are tons of pictures, I took 106 total but tried to narrow it down some. I decided it would be easier to share them all using a slide show. Hope you enjoy watching! Happy Birthday to Papa Eagle!!

Who says I can't read??

I just couldn't resist snapping a couple pics of Ian the other day. He was so "into" reading his big truck book!!

WILDLIFE!!

Wednesday, after going over to a friend's to play and hang out for a bit, we all went to the summer program at the library. The program this week was done by http://ceps.georgiasouthern.edu/wildlife/ . The kids all really enjoyed it and got so see lots of neat creatures! They even got to touch some of the critters which they thought was neat. Mama was happy NOT to touch them though and Kristen opted not to touch the rat!! Here are some pictures of some of the wildlife we learned about!

The rat....

A Red Tailed Hawk. We have lots of these locally. This one was injured and is missing an eye which is why she is at the wildlife center.

An owl of some sort....I can't remember the exact type. She was really big but surprisingly only weighs about 3.5 pounds!!

This is how much Ian enjoyed himself!! ( The program was at 3PM and he hadn't had a nap at all and had been playing hard!)

A Black Indigo snake

Hard to tell in the pictures but these were giant tree frogs. She was showing how they can hold on with the little suction cups on their feet! There is one hanging off her hand and two sitting on her other hand.

A tortoise

I can't remember the exact name but this is some sort of Salamandor!

ROCKET SCIENCE!!!!

Randy bought Ian a new water toy Sunday afternoon. He LOVES it. When you pull the lever, the water pushes the rocket straight up in the air andthen it will hover on the stream of water so you can make it go up and down!! The older kids were swimming next door so Ian got to enjoy playing with it alone for a bit. He was laughing and having so much fun with it. He kept saying "WOW!! AWESOME!!!"

An Outing

Yesterday, the girls, Ian and I went to the summer reading program at our library. The show by http://www.madscience.org/ was really neat. We met some friends, Alice, Caroline, Mary and Bobby, there. There was a big group of kids there so it was a little crowded. Seeing our children behave nicely even though many around them were not, made me proud! After the show at the library, we all went to McDonalds for lunch. It was fun to hang out an play for a bit. Aaron is working this week so he wasn't with us. Here are a few pics of the kids enjoying some ice cream!!

SNAKE!!!

Yesterday while Kristen was taking Maggie outside she saw a snake in the yard! She started hollering to Randy, Aaron and Carroll(Randy's brother) that she had seen a snake. Of course Aaron went running and he caught it! The kids looked at it for a little bit and took it across the street to show the neighbors then let it go out in the trees in the backyard. It was just a little green garden snake but they thought it was great!

Fun in the neighborhood!

I forgot to post about this the other day. One afternoon last week, we made stick people out of twigs, bark, peanuts, raffia, rocks.....whatever we could find. We did this with some of the kids in the neighborhood.

Hard to see but everyone was holding there finished people
Kristen, Morgan and Ian's people!

Friday Fun!!

Friday (June 1st) was the kick off at the library for their summer reading program. Kristen's friend, Izzy went with us. They had an author there but we didn't make it in time for his talk. We did get to enjoy seeing the firetruck and police care though and also got to do some of the crafts and games. Of course, the older kids thought they were too cool to do most of that part. Ian and Morgan enjoyed it though.

We got them all signed up for the reading program. For every 10 hours of reading, they will have their name entered into the grand prize drawing for a $500 mall gift certificate!! ( the big kids are interested in that part for sure!). There are also smaller drawings for each library branch for Barnes and Noble gift cards too. After the party at the library park, we had to run to the other library to pick up some books we had on hold. The next stop was at the Veteran's Memorial Park. We have been wanting to go over there so we finally did it. It is a nice little park and the kids enjoyed looking at all the names and looking at the dates and such.

Too cool!

Posing like big bro!

After that, we tried to visit the Old Museum but they had already closed so we went to play at the park for a little bit.

After about an hour, we made a stop at the grocery store and then came home. It was a fun trip around town!
