Week 3!! Full steam ahead!!

WOW!! We have had a full week this week and it isn't over yet! After our band reunion Friday night, I spent all day Saturday taking a CPR/first aid class for work. Saturday evening, we went over and hung out next door for a bit. Sunday morning was church and then I worked. The kids just hung out with friends at home. Sunday night, I finally finished putting Ian's learning center/board together. Here it is! All of the headings and colored backgrounds are laminated (clear contact paper) to the board. Each week we will change out the theme, letter, number, shape/color, word and rhyme. I am just taping those on top of the contact paper so we can change them easily.

Randy took Monday off so he was home during school time. He helped the kids make an obstacle course. We didn't get all of the material covered for Ian's theme last week so we are doing it again this week. He had to go through the obstacle course acting as different jungle animals.....for instance, slither under the chairs like a snake, climb over the chairs like a monkey, jump over the books like a frog.Morgan and Kristen joined in on this game!

The next thing we did was an ice cube contest! This time, it was Aaron, Kristen and Morgan. Our history lesson was about the Ice Age! They had to see who could keep the ice cube on their skin the longest. The girls opted for holding it in their hands but Aaron put it on his belly!

While we were outside doing this, we had a pretty butterfly come to visit. It fluttered around us the entire time we were out there!

Almost melted in Momo's hands...but she held onto it the whole time!

I couldn't resist a picture of Kristen's beautiful piggies!

After the ice cube fun, we went inside to clean up a bit before we all went to the pool. While I was finishing up laundry, Ian and Momo listened to a book on CD. It was the story of Noah. The CD also has songs after the story so we danced around to the music!

Next stop...the POOL!

Mama and Ian in the pool. Since Papa was with us, I am actually in a picture!

Mama, Sissy and Ian

The kids were racing back and forth across the pool. Sara was swimming with us.

Momo getting ready to jump in. I think they were playing Categories.

Tuesday morning, I went in to work and all the kids came with me. Ian and the girls went into the child watch room, while Aaron and Chris went to workout. We did some schoolwork after we got home and then it was time for Tai Kwan Do. Normally, I take the class with the kids but Randy was working late so I had to sit out this week with Ian. It was OK though, because it gave me a chance to take some pictures!
Beginning stretches. We don't have uniforms yet so it is easy to find the kids in the pictures. Aaron is in the light blue shirt.

There is Kristen in the striped shirt and Momo is beside her, you can just see part of her in this picture.

There's Momo!

Cade and Ian were practicing for when they become daddies while the big kids were taking the class.

Practicing forms. There is our friend Morgan right there in front of Aaron.

Tuesday night when we got home, Kristen wanted to crochet.

Momo decided she wanted to learn how too!! She did great and loved doing it. I think she made everyone in the family a crochet chain bracelet!

Wednesday morning was a normal school morning. Kristen read a few books to Ian while I was working with Morgan. Jungle stories of course!

After reading, Ian joined us at the table to practice the letter B!

.....while Momo worked on LLATL. She was dividing words with the letter "Y" depending on the sound "y" made in the word.

Here she is working on her Explode the Code workbook.....

...while Ian practiced being a firefighter!

Time for math! I think she was having fun!!

After we finished up with school Wednesday, it was time for the kids to get ready for church and I went to work.
Today was just a fun school day at home and we got a lot accomplished while having a great time too!
Ian thought the counter was a good place to play with his trucks today.

Momo was reading a story for her LLATL lesson.

Kristen was working on an experiment for her lapbook. She created a "rainmaker"

Once Morgan finished with her book work. We all went outside to do an art activity for the bubblology lapbook we have been working on forever. They were making prints using paint and bubble wrap! Aaron even came out to try it with us!

With the painting finished, it was time to do the last two experiments for bubbles. Getting all the needed supplies ready.
Making bubbles to see how temperature affects bubbles. One jar went in the sun and one went in the freezer to see which lasted the longest.
Back outside for some bubble explosions!
We added food coloring to make it more interesting!

Momo loved this activity and even stayed out after everyone else was done to do some more!
She did make everyone come back outside though for her grand finale!

Back inside, Ian worked on the number 2. If you look close, you can see where he tried to write the number 2 even!
Last but not least!! We have finished the bubble lapbook. Here is the final product! The front cover.....the red print is some of the bubble wrap painting from today!
The first pages inside.....

The second page. The bubble picture on the left actually has several stacked together. You can see the kids working on these in a previous post from earlier in the summer.
A couple more mini books under the bubble pictures.
Kristen also finished up her Extremem Weather lapbook today! She did a great job on it!

Well, that has been our week so far! Aaron is leaving to go to a seminar out of town tomorrow. He will be learning how to be a worship leader using music. His band is all going so they should have a good time and hopefully will learn some new ideas! I think the girls, Ian and I are going to make cookies once we have finished up schoolwork!

Wow you really have been busy! Lots of fun learning!

I love the learning center, it looks awesome. I really need to get around to making one. Maybe after we move I will have the time!

That obstacle course was so neat and I love the way that your older kids play with the younger ones. They remind me of my girls. No matter how old Hannah gets, she will always play with her younger sisters.

Melanie saw Kristen's toes and the first words out of her mouth were "Mom, we need to go to Wal-Mart so I can get those colors of nail polish" ROFL! Cute , cute, cute piggies Kristen!

Those Tai Kwan Do classes look like a lot of fun. There sure are a lot of people there! Wow!

Is that Maurice Sendak's "Little Bear" book that Morgan is reading? Hannah loved Little Bear when she was younger. It was her all time favorite.

We still never got around to doing the "Bubbleology" lapbook. Maybe we can do it in Sept. sometime. Yours looks awesome. And I enjoyed all of the photos of the experiments.

Well I have written a book here so I need to get going. Thanks for sharing all of the photos.
