Park Day!

The weather has been so nice the past week or so. I took the kids to the library and the park one afternoon. There have been some new playthings added so they have been itching to go play. I think Aaron is a little too big...his KNEES were almost dragging the ground on this thing!

Wildlife at the Library, A snake, A Coconut and more!

Let's see, where do I start...We have been staying pretty close to home the past couple weeks. We did go to the library a couple weeks ago for one of the summer reading programs. GSU's Wildlife Center did a presentation of several different animals for us. It was fun and the kids always enjoy seeing the animals. The room they use for the programs was PACKED!! Here is a picture of about a third of the kids that were actually in there. Getting ready to start....

First creature was the Madagascar Hissing Cockroaches....yes, he just let them crawl all over his shirt!

Next up....the tarantula!

...then some birds of prey...........This one is the red tailed hawk that is very common in our area.

The backs of the kids heads.....listening very intently!

The owl!

This critter was a big hit!! A huge python!

Last but not least was this huge bunny!

Kristen has been asking me to buy a coconut so she could drink the coconut milk. I finally did get her one and she couldn't wait to get into it. Here she is holding it before trying it.

This pic is just an extra......Kristen thought she could do back flips off the ladder in the pool. I had just told her she shouldn't do that because she wasn't going out far enough. Well, 2 seconds later, she did it again and hit her face on the ladder when she came down. I thought she had broken her nose as she hit right on the bridge of her nose. It wasn't broke but she did get black eyes and a VERY swollen nose for a few days!! Here is her fat nose!! She didn't want me to take a picture of it.

Okay...back to the coconut! Here is Papa, Ian and Kristen working to punch the holes in the top.

Got it open now and putting a straw in...

The first sip.............

UMMMM....not quite what she was expecting.

Now Sara is trying some...

I don't think Sara liked it either!

and Aaron.....

This is what Momo thought of it.....HAHA

Well, the milk wasn't so great, so they cut it in half and tried the coconut.

Poor little coconut....after all that, everyone decided they liked the coconut you buy in the bag much better than fresh coconut. The hermit crabs got a treat though when we put the coconut in their aquarium!!They were thrilled with it!
Just a cute picture of Ian and Papa!

Papa relaxing on the back patio.

Aaron found a new friend one evening. He kept it for a couple days and fed it some grasshoppers before setting him free in the woods again.

We had friends over one day and the kids worked on some things for Father's Day. We made a Father's Day lapbook which included pictures, cards, poems, mazes, coupons, quotes and more.

That is all for this update.....more fun to come!
